rch - Remote Compilation Helper
A Claude Code hook that intercepts build commands such as cargo or gcc and transparently runs them on remote worker machines, so concurrent AI coding agents do not saturate one workstation's CPU.
rch intercepts build-like commands issued by AI coding agents, such as cargo, rustc, gcc, make, cmake and Nix builds, and routes them to remote worker machines instead of running them on the local workstation, returning output and artifacts as though the build had run locally. It is meant to solve the problem of several concurrent coding agents saturating a single machine's CPU during compilation.
It runs as a Claude Code PreToolUse hook that classifies incoming commands in milliseconds and is fail-open: if remote execution is not available or not safe for a given command, it falls back to running the command locally rather than blocking it. It deliberately does not intercept commands that mutate local state or are interactive, such as package installs or watch modes, and Nix builds only route to workers that advertise a working Nix installation.
It installs with a shell script that sets up both the client and its background daemon.
