# Robotics Agent Skills

A set of SKILL.md files that teach AI coding assistants ROS1/ROS2 engineering practice — correct QoS, lifecycle nodes, launch files, Docker bringup and tests — instead of only ROS syntax.

This repository packages robotics-specific engineering knowledge as SKILL.md files that can be dropped into Claude Code, Autohand Code, Cursor, Copilot-style agents or custom agent frameworks, aiming to close a gap where general coding agents know ROS syntax but miss production details such as QoS compatibility, deterministic startup, bounded callbacks, sensor health checks, safe shutdown and testability.

An evals/ directory compares the same ROS2 package prompt run once with no skills and once with the skills loaded as context, reporting differences such as a lifecycle node instead of a plain node, sensor-appropriate QoS instead of one default depth, thread-safe bounded sensor buffers instead of latest-message assignment, and 601 lines of tests instead of zero; the project describes this as a single, self-assessed illustration rather than a benchmark, and documents known build defects in both compared artifacts. Skills install with a shell script targeting a chosen skills directory.
