Rome

Rome is a self-hosted agentic operating system where human and agent collaborate over time, agents build their own harnesses and workflows under guidance, and proven capabilities carry forward into later sessions, offered as an open-source alternative to Grok Bot and Meta's Muse.

Rome

Rome is described as a guardrailed environment for persistent agents, in which agents design their own standard operating procedures and orchestrate workflows under a human's ongoing direction, and capabilities that work are kept rather than rebuilt in every conversation. It supports persistent agents, scheduled tasks and custom apps, positioning itself as an open-source alternative to Grok Bot and Meta's Muse.

It can run through a hosted preview called Rome Cloud, or self-hosted with a single script that checks for Docker, pulls the published image and starts Rome, bound to the local machine by default until a user explicitly opens it up. State is kept in named Docker volumes so re-running the startup script upgrades the container without losing data, and telemetry export is off unless a user explicitly configures an OpenTelemetry endpoint.

Running it from source requires Node.js 24 or later, Corepack, pnpm and Docker Compose, and it is written in TypeScript.

A serverless harness that lets a coding agent design, test, and deploy its own specialist sub-agents as tools, MCP servers, or bots, defined by a schema-validated manifest.

  • ProofForge

    shulgin.is-a.dev

An AI-agent pipeline that decomposes a mathematics problem, proves each piece, and formalizes the result in Lean 4 and Mathlib until the Lean kernel accepts it, with six of its proofs already merged into Google DeepMind's formal-conjectures repository.

  • local-coder

    github.com

Builds a local coding-agent team on top of Ollama and OpenCode by detecting the machine's hardware, recommending models for seven specialist roles, and testing whether each assigned model can actually use tools, edit a repository and pass verification.
