# Salesforce DX MCP Server

The official Model Context Protocol server for Salesforce DX, letting large language models read, manage and operate Salesforce org resources securely through a configurable set of tools and toolsets.

The server is configured per MCP client by editing its MCP JSON file, for example a `.vscode/mcp.json` entry that runs `npx -y @salesforce/mcp` with flags selecting a target org, toolsets such as `orgs`, `metadata`, `data` and `users`, and individual tools such as `run_apex_test`.

The `-y` flag lets `npx` install the package automatically instead of prompting, and available flags configure orgs, toolsets, tools and whether non-generally-available tools are allowed. Documentation in the Salesforce DX Developer Guide covers a security overview, a quick-start guide, example client configurations and sample prompts for invoking the core DX MCP tools.
