# SharpTools

An MCP server that gives AI agents Roslyn-powered static analysis and precise code manipulation for C# solutions, generating a project structure map, call graphs, and dependency trees instead of relying on plain text edits.

SharpTools uses the .NET Compiler Platform (Roslyn) to give an AI agent the same structural understanding of a C# codebase that a human developer's IDE provides, rather than treating source files as plain text. It maps namespaces and types across a solution at a complexity-adjusted resolution, and provides simplified call graphs and dependency trees for local code navigation, aiming for token-efficient operation.

Because the toolset is comprehensive, it can be used nearly standalone to edit an existing C# solution, and the author notes it is possible to port-forward the server so a browser-based chat interface can act as a full coding assistant against it. An included identity prompt tunes a general C# coding-assistant persona for use with the suite, and a separate tool-use prompt overrides parts of GitHub Copilot's own agent-mode system prompt so Copilot favors SharpTools' tools over its built-in editing tools; both are also exposed as MCP prompts.

The author describes it as a personal project still rough in places, built in part by its own tools, and open to contributions.
