# Slack MCP Server

An MCP server for Slack workspaces that can run with no configured permissions in a stealth mode or with OAuth tokens, supporting DMs, group DMs, GovSlack, smart history fetching and message search.

Slack MCP Server is a Model Context Protocol server for Slack workspaces, reachable over Stdio, SSE or HTTP transports with optional proxy support. It can run in a stealth mode with no additional permissions or bot installation, or in OAuth mode using secure tokens instead of extracting them from a browser session, and supports Enterprise and GovSlack workspaces.

It fetches messages from channels and threads by name or ID, including activity messages, with smart history pagination by date range or message count, and can retrieve all unread messages across channels with priority sorting between DMs, partner channels and internal channels, plus mention filtering and mark-as-read support. It searches messages across channels, threads and DMs by date, user and content, retrieves direct and group direct messages, embeds user information for context, and caches users and channels for faster access. Posting a new message is disabled by default and must be explicitly enabled.

It is written in Go under the MIT license.
