# smfs

A tool that exposes a Supermemory memory container as a real local filesystem or a virtual bash tool, so an agent or a person can read, write and grep memory the way they would any local directory.

`smfs mount` mounts a named Supermemory container as a directory; files inside behave like any other folder, editable, catable and greppable, with writes uploaded to Supermemory in the background and remote changes pulled in roughly every 30 seconds. For runtimes with no local filesystem at all, such as Cloudflare Workers, serverless functions or browser-based agents, a TypeScript virtual bash tool plugs the same access into an agent's tool set instead.

Only files under a container's configured memory paths are processed by Supermemory's memory pipeline, which extracts structured facts and makes them semantically searchable; everything else in the mount is plain durable storage, and the scoped paths can be overridden per mount. Once `smfs init` has run, a plain `grep` inside a mount automatically routes through Supermemory's semantic index.

It supports macOS and Linux on arm64 and x64, requires a Supermemory API key, and installs with a shell script.
