Smithy Rust

smithy-rs is a set of Smithy code generators for Rust, producing client libraries, server scaffolding, and the AWS SDK for Rust from Smithy service models. Its codegen-core module holds logic shared between client and server generation, with codegen-client and codegen-server generating Smithy client and server code respectively, each paired with a test module that generates protocol tests and integration tests.

An aws module holds AWS-specific code generation and supporting Rust code, such as request signing, endpoint resolution, and customizations, and can assemble or fully test a fresh build of the AWS SDK for Rust. All of its internal and external interfaces are explicitly described as unstable and subject to change.

Building it requires Gradle, JDK 17, and a working Rust toolchain, and its example server implementations live in a dedicated examples module.
