Soft Serve

A self-hostable Git server for the command line, with an SSH-based text UI for browsing repositories, access control by public key, and Git LFS support.

Soft Serve

Soft Serve is a self-hostable Git server built around the command line. It gives every repository a text-based UI reachable over SSH, so users can browse repositories, files, and commits, print files with syntax highlighting and line numbers, and clone repositories over SSH, HTTP, or the Git protocol, including with Git LFS.

Repositories can be created on demand with SSH or a plain git push, and access is controlled with SSH public keys: administrators can allow or disallow anonymous access, add collaborators, mark repositories public or private, and issue user access tokens. It ships as a single binary called soft, is available as a package for several Linux distributions or through go install, and also runs as a Docker image.
