Terraform Plugin Framework Code Generator

A command-line tool from HashiCorp that converts a Terraform provider code specification into Go source for the Terraform Plugin Framework, and scaffolds boilerplate for new data sources and resources from customizable templates.

Terraform Plugin Framework Code Generator

Terraform Plugin Framework Code Generator is a command-line tool that generates Go code for a Terraform provider built on the Terraform Plugin Framework, from a Provider Code Specification given as input. Its generate command currently outputs the provider's schema, including validators and plan modifiers with no limit on nesting, and data-model types, with conversion to external Go types such as an API SDK's own types when the specification provides them.

A separate scaffold command generates starter code for a new data source, provider or resource using customizable templates that can be adapted to match a provider's own coding conventions and automatically include API client configuration. It installs from released binaries or through the Go toolchain, and is released as a technical preview under the Mozilla Public License 2.0, with CRUD-logic generation planned as a future enhancement.
