The ChatGPT Orange Book

An unofficial Chinese-language guide to using ChatGPT Work and Codex in real development and creative work, from installation through workflow and case studies.

The ChatGPT Orange Book

This is an unofficial, community-written guide to using ChatGPT Work and Codex, aimed at developers, indie developers, and heavy users of AI tools who want to bring agent capabilities into real work and software projects. It is explicitly not official OpenAI documentation, and is based on publicly available capabilities, the actual interface, and real usage cases rather than internal information.

Its content explains how Codex differs from ChatGPT and tools such as Cursor, covers installation and setup across the Codex App, CLI, IDE extension, and web/cloud entry points, breaks down core capabilities such as Work, Sites, automation, plugins, Skills, MCP, git and GitHub workflows, cloud execution, and memory, and describes a standard workflow from requirements through planning, implementation, verification, and delivery, illustrated with case studies such as building front-end pages and generating presentations.

It is available to read online, as a downloadable and previewable PDF, and as raw Markdown text, and is MIT licensed.
