# TrueNorth

An open-source AI agent framework where a developer declares a multi-turn conversation goal in YAML and TrueNorth handles extraction, validation, memory, compliance and output generation.

TrueNorth runs structured, multi-turn AI conversations from a YAML description of the desired outcome rather than hand-written conversation logic: the developer declares fields to extract, validation rules and the goal, and the engine manages field extraction, a hallucination-checking firewall, emotion handling, memory, compliance and output generation, along with async follow-up reminders.

Its codebase spans Python, Node.js, Go and Rust behind one Makefile that installs dependencies, starts a FastAPI server with Postgres and Redis through Docker Compose, and runs an interactive terminal chat against a free mock LLM by default or a real provider with an API key. It includes over 1,280 tests across all four languages, WhatsApp Business delivery, and features aimed at DPDP and GDPR compliance.
