# TUIOS

A terminal window manager and multiplexer with tiling panes, persistent sessions and awareness of the coding agents running inside it, unifying their status into one inbox.

TUIOS (Terminal UI Operating System) is a terminal multiplexer and window manager with a vim-like modal interface, multiple panes, workspaces, binary space partitioning tiling, kitty graphics protocol support and a command palette, all running inside an existing terminal. A daemon keeps sessions alive, reaches sessions on other machines, and lets coding agents running in its panes report their state and message each other.

It is built on the Charm stack (Bubble Tea v2 and Lipgloss v2), aiming for near-zero idle CPU usage through event-driven rendering and flicker-free image passthrough. Documented features include hooks that run shell commands on window, session and agent events, custom themes, a tape-based scripting system for automating workflows, a tmux compatibility shim for tools that expect tmux, such as Claude Code agent teams, and a JSON control protocol for driving the daemon directly.

It is written in Go and is licensed under MIT.
