usbipd-win
Windows software that shares locally connected USB devices with other machines over the network, including Hyper-V guests and WSL 2, through a background service and a CLI.
usbipd-win is Windows software for sharing locally connected USB devices with other machines, including Hyper-V guests and WSL 2. It installs a service called usbipd, a command-line tool of the same name added to the PATH, and a firewall rule allowing local subnets to reach the service.
Devices are not shared by default; an administrator lists and binds a specific device to share it, and that sharing persists across reboots. On WSL 2, a device is attached from within Windows without needing administrator privileges, while other Linux machines use the usbip client-side tool to list and attach shared devices remotely.
