# WSL Manager

A free, open-source GUI for the Windows Subsystem for Linux, and for native Linux and macOS virtual machines on a Mac, covering distro install, backup, configuration and remote access without memorizing wsl.exe flags.

WSL Manager, also called WSL Distro Manager, is a GUI for the Windows Subsystem for Linux that lets a user install, copy, rename, move, back up and delete WSL distros without using wsl.exe command-line flags directly. On macOS the same application manages native Linux and macOS virtual machines through Apple's Virtualization framework instead.

It supports installing from a built-in catalogue of distros or a custom rootfs, using any Docker image as a distro, packaging a configured distro as a portable file that installs on another machine, mounting a physical disk or VHD, remote WSL access over SSH, and configuring systemd, networking, memory and other .wslconfig settings without editing files by hand. It also includes an AI assistant with tools and an MCP server that lets AI agents drive a WSL environment.

It is written in Dart with Flutter.
