X-CMD
A POSIX shell toolkit of more than 300 shell and awk modules plus an on-demand package system of over 600 command-line tools, aimed at making bash, zsh, ash and dash as capable as a full standard library, including for AI agents.
X-CMD is a toolkit for POSIX shell environments such as bash, zsh, ash and dash, including constrained systems such as BusyBox or Alpine, built from more than 300 shell and awk modules that bring capabilities comparable to a language's standard library. Its on-demand package system adds over 600 curated command-line tools, such as jq, fzf, fd and ripgrep, downloaded and loaded only when used, without requiring root access or leaving files on the system.
Beyond core modules, it includes practical utilities such as cross-shell themes, shell completions, a Git hooks alternative and a Chinese calendar, and a pure-shell AI agent under 2 MB that can call providers such as OpenAI, Gemini, DeepSeek, Zhipu and MiniMax using only shell and curl. The core toolkit is lightweight, around 1.1 MB, with fast non-interactive load times.
