# ZCodium

An independent, audited fork of the ZCode AI coding client that removes all monitoring and telemetry and builds transparently from its own source.

ZCodium is a security-audited fork of zai-org's ZCode client, following the same naming pattern as Chrome to Chromium. It removes about 26,000 lines of monitoring and telemetry code, including RUM, OTLP reporting, crash collection, and usage sampling, and adds regression checks intended to keep those code paths from being reintroduced by future upstream merges.

Vendor services such as account sign-in, feedback, coding plans, the official MCP integration, and the plugin marketplace are all off by default, each with its own settings toggle; turning one on connects to ZCode's official servers. Every upstream commit is reviewed individually before being merged, builds are produced transparently through GitHub Actions from this repository, and released artifacts ship from those same builds, unlike the closed-source official client.

The audit is described as a static code review of sensitive paths such as packaging, encryption, and upload logic, not full dynamic forensics, and its findings are expected to be updated over time.
