5ire

A cross-platform desktop AI assistant and MCP client that connects to major model providers, supports a local knowledge base, and lets a user install tools built as MCP servers.

5ire

5ire (pronounced 'fai-er') is compatible with OpenAI, Azure, Anthropic, Google, Mistral, Doubao, Grok, Ollama and DeepSeek. Its MCP tools give it access to the file system, system information, databases and remote data beyond plain conversation, and it ships an open marketplace for discovering and sharing MCP servers.

Using its tools feature requires Python, Node.js and uv installed locally, since they form the MCP server runtime; a user can skip this step and add it later if the tools feature is not needed right away. A local embedding model, bge-m3, supports parsing and vectorizing docx, xlsx, pptx, pdf, txt and csv documents for retrieval-augmented generation against a local knowledge base.

It is written in TypeScript.
