9Router Model Connector
A VS Code extension and local proxy that switches the AI model behind GitHub Copilot Chat instantly from a web dashboard, without editing configuration files or reloading the editor.
9Router Model Connector connects Visual Studio Code's GitHub Copilot Chat to a locally run gateway called 9Router, letting a user switch the active model from a one-click web dashboard or the status bar instead of editing a JSON configuration file and reloading the VS Code window each time. Supported models include Claude, GPT-4o, Gemini, DeepSeek, and Llama, reachable through the 9Router gateway across more than 40 providers, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, DeepSeek, Groq, and OpenRouter.
The system runs three local components: the 9Router core engine acting as an AI gateway and load balancer, a local proxy extension that transparently injects the selected model and handles streaming and authentication headers, and a web dashboard for switching models and comparing their latency and responses side by side. Installation is a setup script for Windows, Linux, or macOS, or a manual sequence installing the 9Router package globally and the VS Code extension from a local build.
