@abluva/mcp-remote

A maintained fork of the mcp-remote stdio proxy that bridges MCP clients such as Claude Desktop to remote MCP servers over OAuth, fixing open upstream bugs around mid-session token expiry, callback hangs and localhost callback failures.

@abluva/mcp-remote

@abluva/mcp-remote is a fork of the geelen/mcp-remote project, an OAuth bridge that lets stdio-only MCP clients such as Claude Desktop and Cursor connect to remote MCP servers that require OAuth authentication. It merges an unmerged community pull request that adds mid-session re-authentication, several other open upstream pull requests, and additional production fixes for callback server lifetime, automatic port selection and logout re-authentication in an MCP gateway.

It runs as a local proxy invoked through npx, and supports two protocol modes: an automatic mode that probes the remote server and negotiates the newest supported protocol, and an explicit legacy or dated protocol mode for servers that need one or the other, including a stateless, POST-only transport for direct connections that bypass a gateway.

It is written in TypeScript and licensed under MIT.
