Aidermacs

An Emacs package that integrates the Aider AI pair-programming tool, giving Emacs users AI-assisted coding with model selection, Ediff integration for reviewing AI changes, and Emacs-native file management.

Aidermacs

Aidermacs brings Aider, an open-source AI pair-programming tool, into Emacs, aiming to give users who prefer Emacs a similar set of AI capabilities while staying inside familiar Emacs workflows. It offers intelligent model selection across multiple backends, built-in Ediff integration for reviewing AI-generated changes, enhanced file management from within Emacs, and customizable ways to add content to a session.

The main interface is a transient menu system, similar to Magit's, opened with M-x aidermacs-transient-menu or a user-chosen keybinding after adding files to a project. It installs through MELPA or Non-GNU ELPA, or can be added manually, including a documented configuration for Spacemacs users, and requires Emacs 26.1 or newer along with Aider or its community fork.
