Alpaca

A beginner-friendly GNOME desktop client for chatting with local Ollama models or third-party providers such as Gemini and ChatGPT, with image and document recognition.

Alpaca

Alpaca is an Ollama client that lets a user manage and chat with multiple local models from a native GNOME application, built with GTK4 and Adwaita and distributed as a Flatpak. It supports talking to several models in the same conversation, pulling and deleting models from within the app, image and plain-text document recognition, code highlighting, multiple simultaneous conversations, and importing or exporting chat history.

It can also connect to third-party providers such as Gemini and ChatGPT using a user's own API keys, alongside any OpenAI-compatible cloud endpoint, and can answer questions about a YouTube video's transcript or a pasted website URL. The project explicitly disclaims any affiliation with Ollama and is not responsible for actions taken by code an AI model generates. It is written in Python, licensed under GPL-3.0, and localized into more than twenty languages by community translators.
