Alpaca MCP Server

The Alpaca MCP Server is Alpaca's official MCP server for its brokerage Trading API, letting an AI assistant such as Claude, Cursor or VS Code place stock, option and crypto trades, manage a portfolio and pull real-time market data from plain-language requests.

Alpaca MCP Server

The Alpaca MCP Server is a Model Context Protocol server for Alpaca's Trading API, enabling natural-language trading operations from AI assistants such as Claude, Cursor and VS Code. It supports stocks, options, crypto and ETFs, portfolio management, and real-time market data, and requires a user's own Alpaca API keys.

Version 2 is a complete rewrite built with FastMCP and OpenAPI, with tool names, parameters and schemas derived from Alpaca's own API specifications rather than hand-crafted as in version 1, and it is not a drop-in replacement for a setup that depends on version 1's specific tool names; the project's own guide walks through clearing cached tool lists and starting a fresh session when upgrading. A toolsets environment variable can restrict which groups of tools a client is allowed to use.
