Autonomous Agent for X and BlueSky profile management
A GitHub Actions template for a fully self-contained, cron-triggered autonomous agent that uses Claude Code to research, code and open pull requests toward a given goal every day, with PR review, auto-merge and configurable safety limits, and no external servers.
This is a self-managing agent that works iteratively toward a goal without human participation, running entirely inside GitHub with no local servers or external schedulers. This particular deployment manages an X and Bluesky profile, and the repository is built from a public template that can be forked to launch a differently purposed agent.
A daily cron job starts a limited number of work cycles; each cycle the agent thinks, researches and codes, then opens a pull request updating its own state directory, which triggers a self-review workflow and auto-merges when approved, immediately starting the next session until a configurable daily pull-request limit is reached. Each session the agent reviews what happened, adjusts based on what it learned, and plans its next steps.
It requires a GitHub repository with Actions enabled, an Anthropic API key or Claude Code OAuth token, and a branch protection ruleset on main so the agent, or a compromised workflow, cannot push directly and every change goes through a reviewed pull request; other safety limits include a configurable maximum pull requests per day and changes restricted to an /agent directory.
