Azure DevOps MCP Server
This is a community-maintained Model Context Protocol server for Azure DevOps that lets AI assistants access and manage projects, work items, repositories, branches, pull requests and pipelines through a standardized protocol.
This MCP server implements the Model Context Protocol for Azure DevOps, giving AI assistants such as Claude a standardized way to access projects, work items, repositories, branches and pull requests, and to execute common DevOps workflows through natural language, including reading repository content through resource URIs and authenticating securely against Azure DevOps.
It is organized as a feature-based architecture, with each area, work items, projects, repositories, pull requests, branches and pipelines, encapsulated in its own module of request handlers and tool handlers, configured through environment variables for the organization URL and credentials. The project positions itself as a community alternative to Microsoft's own product-supported Azure DevOps MCP server, remaining useful specifically for on-premises Azure DevOps Server, including older versions the official server may not support, or for features the official server does not yet have. It requires Node.js 16 or later and either a Personal Access Token or Azure identity credentials.
