bbarit-oss

An open-source terminal AI coding agent written in Rust as a single binary, supporting more than 15 LLM providers and over 1,000 models as a self-hostable alternative to Claude Code and Codex CLI.

bbarit-oss

bbarit-oss is a terminal AI coding agent extracted from the agent built into BBARIT Terminal, a desktop coding IDE, and released as a standalone open-source CLI. It follows the design philosophy of Pi, keeping a small, legible agent loop and a provider-agnostic model registry rather than a heavy framework, though it is a from-scratch Rust rewrite rather than a fork.

It adds a multi-process orchestrator for parallel sub-agents, a project wiki that gives the agent a durable, human-readable knowledge base about a codebase, hundreds of personas, and bundled semantic code search. Its cross-session memory design follows qwen-code's durable-fact taxonomy with a human-readable index file.

It ships as a single self-contained binary for macOS, Linux and Windows with one-line installers and a self-update command, and auto-loads MCP servers and skills from Claude Code and Codex. It is licensed under MIT.
