bbolt

An embedded key/value store for Go, forked from the original Bolt project to give it active maintenance while keeping its simple, low-level API.

bbolt

bbolt is a pure Go, embedded key/value database forked from Ben Johnson's Bolt project, itself inspired by Howard Chu's LMDB. It focuses on being simple, fast, and reliable for applications that need local persistence without running a full database server such as Postgres or MySQL.

Its API stays deliberately small, focused on getting and setting values inside buckets, with read-write and read-only transactions, nested buckets, range and prefix scans, and database backups. It is used in production for databases up to a terabyte in size, including by companies such as Shopify and Heroku.

It is written in Go and released under the MIT license, with a fixed API and file format and semantic versioning across releases.
