Fast Knowledge

A self-hosted, Java-based knowledge base for small and mid-sized organizations, turning internal documents into a searchable, question-answerable and audit-exportable knowledge asset with hybrid retrieval and Docker deployment.

Fast Knowledge

Fast Knowledge is a private knowledge base built for organizations that need an on-premises deployment, aimed at teams whose documents include policies, technical procedures and equipment manuals. It targets one deployed instance per organization with data kept fully in-house, rather than a multi-tenant SaaS platform, and is built with Java and Spring Boot rather than the Python or Go stacks common in similar projects.

It uses LangChain4j for retrieval-augmented generation with a hybrid search combining local vector indexing and other retrieval, and exposes a REST API for integration with internal systems rather than embedding the interface in another page. It supports audit-log export and an offline installation package for compliance-sensitive deployments, and can run from a single Linux install script, a manually deployed jar, or a simplified single-machine mode; it does not include a general agent-workflow or multimodal layer, by design.

A hybrid retrieval engine for retrieval-augmented generation, written in Rust to run on-device on a phone or a laptop, combining lexical BM25 search, dense embedding search, reciprocal-rank fusion and cross-encoder re-ranking with no server.
