Better Design
An open-source design MCP server and shadcn/ui component registry that gives AI coding agents design tokens, production component code, and accessibility review rules for more than 30 brand-grade design systems such as Linear, Stripe, and Notion.
Better Design gives an AI coding agent the design context a plain prompt usually lacks: semantic CSS tokens, production component code, icon direction, spacing and typography rules, and a WCAG and visual-design review checklist, so generated interfaces use a real product's implementation details instead of guessed colors. A user picks a product direction such as Linear, Supabase, Vercel, Stripe, Apple, Notion, or Figma, has their agent build against that system's tokens and components, and can then run a review step that checks the result for missing focus states, weak hierarchy, poor contrast, and inconsistent spacing.
It has two layers: an always-on design-intelligence layer that loads relevant design principles automatically while an agent works on UI, and an on-demand scaffold layer for installing specific components. It works as an MCP server with Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and GitHub Copilot, Claude Desktop, and claude.ai, and also functions as a shadcn/ui-compatible component registry so individual components can be installed with one command.
