browser-session-ctl

Loads an unpacked Chrome extension that lets a local AI coding agent click, type and read the tabs, cookies and logins of a Chrome window you already have open.

browser-session-ctl

browser-session-ctl drives the Chrome window a user already has open from the shell, including third-party sites the user does not own, instead of starting a separate, logged-out browser instance the way Selenium does. A local sidecar process listens on 127.0.0.1 and forwards commands over WebSocket to a Chrome extension loaded unpacked into the current session, so an agent can read a page the user is looking at, fill a form on a site the user is already signed into, or hand off a browser task mid-flow without re-authenticating.

This is aimed at pairing with an AI coding agent, such as Claude Code or Cursor, that already runs shell commands on the user's machine. Because the extension asks for access to all websites, the project recommends installing it only in a separate Chrome profile dedicated to the agent, signed into only the sites that agent should use, never the user's everyday profile.

It is shipped as plain, unminified JavaScript and released under the GPL-3.0 license, which the README ties to keeping the code that can see those tabs always inspectable.
