Cerul
A command-line tool that turns local video folders into a searchable library, finding moments by meaning, spoken words or on-screen text using your own model API key.
Cerul indexes local videos so they can be searched by describing a moment in a sentence or by giving a reference image, and finds speech through transcription and on-screen text through embedded OCR. Matching clips can be exported along with structured semantic annotations, and indexing resumes after an interruption instead of starting over.
It works with ordinary video folders as well as LeRobot robotics datasets, and requires a Gemini API key since video processing sends data to Gemini and can incur charges; a dry-run flag shows exactly what would be sent before it happens. Search results display a match percentage, a time range and a link, with a still-frame preview in supporting terminals.
It supports macOS on Apple Silicon and Linux x86_64, and is written in Rust under Apache-2.0.
