Chroma

An open-source vector database and search infrastructure for AI applications, with a small core API and an optional hosted cloud service.

Chroma

Chroma is an open-source data infrastructure project for AI search, providing a vector database that applications can query for similarity search. It exposes a compact core API, installable as a Python or JavaScript package, and can also run as a client-server process locally.

A hosted option, Chroma Cloud, offers serverless vector, hybrid, and full-text search without managing infrastructure.

It is written in Rust and released under the Apache-2.0 license, with new tagged releases published on a regular schedule.
