Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF)

The Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF) is a BSD-licensed, open-source framework for embedding a Chromium-based browser inside third-party applications. Unlike the Chromium project itself, CEF focuses specifically on embedded-browser use cases rather than building a standalone browser.

It provides stable C++ APIs, release branches tracked to specific Chromium releases, and binary distributions, with default implementations for most features so applications need little integration work. Typical uses include embedding an HTML5-capable browser control in a native application, building a lightweight shell around a web-based user interface, rendering web content off-screen for custom drawing frameworks, and hosting automated testing of web properties.
