Claude Code Chat is a VS Code and Cursor extension that replaces Claude Code's command-line interface with a graphical chat panel, adding checkpoint restore, an inline diff viewer, and a marketplace for browsing and installing MCP servers, skills and plugins.

Claude Code Chat

Claude Code Chat is an extension for VS Code, Cursor and compatible editors that gives Claude Code a graphical chat interface instead of a terminal session. It streams responses in real time, keeps automatic conversation history, and tracks token cost and usage statistics per session.

A checkpoint system takes a Git-based backup automatically so changes can be undone and the code restored to any earlier point in the conversation. An inline diff viewer shows file changes directly inside Edit, MultiEdit and Write messages, with syntax highlighting and a button to open the change in VS Code's native diff editor, and a built-in marketplace lets users browse, search and install MCP servers, skills and plugins. It also supports Windows and WSL.
