claude_converter

A zero-dependency Python module that parses coding-agent session files from Claude Code, Codex and Pi and flattens each tool's own JSONL format into the plain messages list Transformers expects.

claude_converter

Claude Code, Codex and Pi each store a coding session as a JSONL file with one record per line covering user prompts, assistant replies, tool calls, tool results and reasoning blocks, but each tool uses its own layout. claude_converter parses all three formats and produces the same simple list of role and content pairs that a tokenizer's chat-template function consumes directly, so downstream code does not need to know which tool produced a given session.

A single Converter class picks the source tool through one argument and exposes the same methods regardless of format, including a method that inspects a session file and one that converts it directly into a ready-to-use messages list. The project's original Claude Code-only functions remain available unchanged for callers that do not need multi-tool support.
