An independent, open-source terminal coding agent written in Rust, with an interactive agent shell, workspace-aware tools, session persistence, and a live split-pane TUI dashboard.

ClaudeCode (Open Source)

ClaudeCode (Open Source) is an independent open-source implementation of a terminal-based AI coding agent, inspired by Claude Code but not affiliated with or produced by Anthropic. It is built in Rust and provides an interactive agent shell and a one-shot prompt mode, tools that are aware of the local workspace, and resumable sessions saved as JSON state.

It supports Anthropic-compatible and OpenAI-compatible model providers, plus xAI/Grok aliases, and includes a live TUI dashboard built with ratatui that shows the agent's pipeline, a workspace file tree that recolors as files are scanned, read, or modified, and a syntax-highlighted diff that streams in as it is generated; the dashboard currently plays a scripted demo session driven by the same event stream the real agent loop would use.

It is installed by building from source with Cargo.
