Cline

Cline is an open-source autonomous coding agent available as a CLI, a VS Code and JetBrains extension, a native desktop app, and an SDK for building custom agent integrations.

Cline

It reads a project's structure and makes coordinated edits across multiple files, watching for linter and compiler errors as it works and fixing problems such as missing imports or type mismatches before the user even sees them; every edit in the editor extensions shows as a reviewable, revertible diff, and checkpoints track all changes so a session can be undone.

Cline runs shell commands directly in the terminal and keeps reacting to long-running process output, such as a dev server, catching build failures as they happen. A Plan mode lets it explore the codebase and propose a strategy before an Act mode carries it out, with per-change approval or an optional auto-approve setting; project-specific rules in .clinerules files and reusable skills shape its behavior consistently across the CLI, editor extensions and JetBrains plugin.

TypeScript, Apache-2.0.
