Code Assistant

An open-source, Rust-based autonomous coding agent with a native GUI, a terminal mode, and MCP and ACP integrations, that shows exactly which tools it ran and what each one returned.

Code Assistant

Code Assistant is an open-source AI coding agent, written in Rust, that runs an autonomous agent loop over a codebase, reading, searching, editing files, and running commands, while keeping the user informed about what it is actually doing. Rather than collapsing tool activity into a terse summary, its interface shows which tools ran and what each one handed back to the model as context, so it is easier to see why the agent went off track when it does.

It reconciles the model's edits with the result of a project's own auto-formatter without re-reading files, to keep an agent's picture of a file from going stale after formatting. It reads and writes files in their original encoding and line endings, and can read Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF documents as Markdown alongside source code. It supports Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Vertex AI, Ollama, OpenRouter, SAP AI Core, Groq, Cerebras, and Mistral as model providers, and ships prebuilt downloads for macOS, Linux, and Windows. It is MIT licensed.

  • rig

    tryrig.ai

A small, single-binary agent runtime that points at any OpenAI-compatible model, local or hosted, reads and edits a repository's code, runs its tests and remembers what it learned, with a loop implemented in a few hundred lines.

  • Jauvex

    jauvex.reindent.com

An Electron desktop app that puts Claude Code, Codex and Grok coding-agent sessions side by side and lets you steer them by voice, with a small model handling fast routing decisions.
