CodexSaver
CodexSaver is an MCP tool that turns Codex into a cost-aware router, delegating low-risk, easily verified work such as explanations, searches, reviews and bounded patches to a cheaper worker while keeping architecture, security and final review decisions in Codex itself.
CodexSaver installs as a global MCP tool so every workspace can route bounded, verifiable work, such as code explanation, repository scanning, docstring and README maintenance, bounded test generation, and small scoped refactors, away from Codex and to a cheaper worker, while Codex keeps responsibility for architecture, security, protected domains and final review. Pi Agent is its default worker for the current version, with automatic discovery of other local Agent Card workers, and DeepSeek and other LLM providers remain available for delegation through its earlier versions.
It reports a benchmark of 45% to 100% estimated cost savings on five bounded tasks in its earlier version, and a newer orchestration mode running a read-only specialist swarm that completed in about 6.45 seconds and produced 10 findings at a 0.75 quality score. Safety measures include protected paths, allowlisted commands, sandboxed patch application, and falling back to Codex itself.
It explicitly avoids delegating decisions involving authentication, security, payments, permissions, destructive migrations or ambiguous architecture choices.
