Cognee
An open-source memory platform that turns documents, code, and conversations into a self-hosted knowledge graph so AI agents can search and reuse what they have learned across sessions.
Cognee gives AI agents persistent, long-term memory by building a knowledge graph from documents, code, and past conversations, which agents can then search and reuse instead of losing context between sessions. It can run entirely locally using small, free models on the CPU, with no API key required, or use a configured LLM instead.
Described use cases include building a shared memory across a team and its agents, retaining project context and past decisions across agent runs, and grounding agents in a domain with custom data models and ontologies. It offers a local Python quickstart, plugins and an MCP integration for connecting existing agents, and a hosted cloud option.
It is written in Python and released under the Apache-2.0 license.
