Dao Code

Dao Code is an open-source terminal coding agent built around DeepSeek V4 that reads and writes code, runs commands and fixes bugs behind an approval gate, engineered around DeepSeek's cheap prompt caching to keep memory and self-correction low-cost.

Dao Code

Dao Code is a terminal-native AI coding assistant, run with the command dao, that reads code, writes code, runs commands and fixes bugs while streaming its reasoning and tool calls and asking for approval before acting. It targets DeepSeek V4 with its one-million-token context, is Chinese-first, and is inspired by Claude Code's design.

Its distinguishing design choice is keeping the system prompt, tool table and memory byte-stable so DeepSeek's prefix cache can be reused across reflection and memory operations, keeping cache-hit rates high and reducing token cost. The project reports measurements on real open-source bug-fix tasks comparing its token cost and cache-hit rate against pricing the same token trace would incur on other vendors, and is fully open source under the MIT license.
