Deep Copilot is a VS Code extension that provides conversational, language-model-based coding assistance from the editor's sidebar. It talks to models through the DeepSeek API, which follows the OpenAI-compatible protocol, and supports tool calls for reading and writing files, searching code and running shell commands, with results streamed into the sidebar as they are produced.
The extension has no runtime npm dependencies: it is built directly on the VS Code Extension API and Node.js built-in modules, so using it needs no separate service deployed anywhere. Only a DeepSeek API key is required to start; a second, optional key for a web search provider enables an additional tool for looking things up online.
