Directus

Directus wraps an existing SQL database with automatically generated REST and GraphQL APIs and a visual admin Studio, so engineers, non-technical teammates and AI agents can all work with the same live data.

Directus

Directus connects to an existing SQL database — Postgres, MySQL, MariaDB, SQL Server, SQLite, OracleDB, CockroachDB and others — and adds a REST and GraphQL API on top without extra configuration. A visual Studio gives non-technical teammates a full management interface for the same data, while engineers keep control of schema and access.

A built-in AI Assistant and a native MCP server let AI agents such as Claude, Cursor or ChatGPT work directly with the live data, governed by the same role-based, field-level permissions that apply to human users. The project is also extensible with custom endpoints, hooks, interfaces and modules.

It can be self-hosted on your own infrastructure or run on Directus Cloud, which provisions a managed project with database, storage, auto-scaling and a global CDN included.
