Discourse MCP

An MCP stdio server that exposes a Discourse forum's search, browsing and, optionally, posting capabilities as tools and resources for AI agents.

Discourse MCP

Discourse MCP is a Model Context Protocol server that exposes Discourse forum capabilities as tools and resources for AI agents. It targets a chosen Discourse site, either selected at runtime with a tool call or tethered at startup with a site flag.

By default it runs read-only with no authentication. Write access is opt-in and safeguarded behind an explicit flag and per-site API credentials, and operator-selectable toolsets let a deployment expose only a subset of capabilities, such as a Data Explorer toolset restricted to read-only API access.

It runs on Node.js 24 or newer, is installed with a single npx command or as a global binary, and is added to a client such as Claude Desktop as a local MCP server.
