Docker MCP server
An MCP server that lets a large language model manage Docker with natural language: composing containers, inspecting running ones, and managing volumes, presenting a plan for approval before applying it.
Docker MCP server is a Model Context Protocol server for managing Docker through natural language. It lets an AI assistant compose containers from a plain description, introspect and debug containers that are already running, and manage persistent data through Docker volumes.
Its docker_compose prompt drives a plan-and-apply loop: a user describes the containers they want, the model calculates a concise plan and presents it before doing anything, and the user either applies the plan or gives feedback for the model to recalculate it, for example deploying an nginx container on a given port, or a WordPress site with a supporting MySQL container.
It installs from PyPI with uv and Claude Desktop's configuration file, or runs in its own Docker container with the host's Docker socket mounted in, and is written in Python under the GNU General Public License version 3.
