ECA Desktop

A standalone desktop app for Editor Code Assistant (ECA), an AI pair-programming system, that connects to an external eca server for chat, code suggestions and context management without requiring an editor at all.

ECA Desktop

ECA Desktop is a thin, cross-platform wrapper around the shared eca-webview, letting someone use every capability of the ECA server, most of which lives in the server itself, without installing an editor plugin. Like the editor-integrated ECA clients, it connects to an external eca server process, which it downloads and manages automatically, and provides interactive chat, code suggestions and context management.

Installers are published for macOS as dmg or zip, for Linux x64 and arm64 as AppImage or deb, plus a Flatpak build, with release assets carrying SLSA build provenance so their origin can be verified. Auto-updates work for the dmg, zip and AppImage formats in place; deb and Flatpak builds are updated by installing a fresh package until the app is published on Flathub. The managed eca server component keeps auto-updating regardless of the desktop app's own package format.

Building it from source needs Node.js 18 or newer and its eca-webview git submodule cloned recursively.
