ECA vscode

ECA vscode is a VS Code extension client for Editor Code Assistant (ECA), an AI pair-programming system. It connects to an external eca server, which the extension can download and manage automatically, and exposes commands to add context to the chat's system prompt, rewrite a selected piece of code from a prompt, and run an inline chat that streams an answer into a comment thread at the cursor, with follow-ups, stopping and tool-call approvals handled in that thread.

The eca server can be run inside a sandbox such as Docker, Podman or bubblewrap by pointing the extension's server path setting at a wrapper script, with a setting to stop sending the VS Code process ID when the sandbox hides or remaps the host PID.

Building the extension's webview from source requires cloning its eca-webview submodule and running a local Vite dev server before launching the extension in debug mode.
