Engineering Notebook

A Bun CLI that ingests Claude Code and Codex session transcripts, generates LLM-written daily summaries, and serves a browsable web journal with a calendar view and full-text search.

Engineering Notebook

Engineering Notebook scans directories of Claude Code and Codex JSONL session files, defaulting to ~/.claude/projects and ~/.codex/sessions, strips out tool calls and thinking blocks to keep the human-readable conversation, and stores the result in SQLite. It then groups sessions by date and project and uses Claude to write engineering journal entries with headlines, summaries, topics and open questions.

A served web UI presents a three-panel journal (date index, entries and full transcript detail), a projects view with per-project timelines, a calendar/Gantt view of activity across dates, full-text search with highlighting, and settings for sources, exclusions, auto-sync interval and an iCal feed. Each entry's transcript can be resumed directly with a claude --resume command shown alongside it. It requires Bun v1.1 or newer and an ANTHROPIC_API_KEY for summarization.
