excel-mcp-server

A Model Context Protocol server that lets an AI agent create, read and modify Excel workbooks, including formulas, formatting, charts, pivot tables and data validation, without Microsoft Excel installed.

excel-mcp-server

excel-mcp-server is an MCP server for manipulating Excel files without requiring Microsoft Excel to be installed. It supports creating, reading and updating workbooks and worksheets, formulas, conditional formatting, font styling, borders and alignment, chart creation across several chart types, dynamic pivot tables, and copying, renaming or deleting sheets, alongside built-in validation for ranges, formulas and data integrity.

It supports three transport methods: stdio for local use, a deprecated SSE transport, and streamable HTTP, recommended for remote connections, and can run locally or as a remote service. For SSE or streamable HTTP, file paths are handled relative to a configured directory rather than as absolute paths, for security.
