FastMCP
A TypeScript framework, built on the official MCP SDK, for building Model Context Protocol servers quickly, handling sessions, authentication, tools, resources and prompts with less boilerplate.
FastMCP is a TypeScript framework for building MCP servers that can handle client sessions, built on top of the official Model Context Protocol SDK. It implements the legacy, handshake-based MCP revisions up to 2025-11-25, and does not yet support the later stateless specification.
It handles the boilerplate of initializing server components, connections, tools, resources and prompts, and adds features such as OpenAPI-to-MCP conversion, authentication, header passing, session and request ID tracking, image and audio content, HTTP streaming with server-sent-events compatibility, HTTPS support, custom HTTP routes for REST APIs and webhooks, edge-runtime support for platforms such as Cloudflare Workers, a stateless mode for serverless deployments, CORS enabled by default, prompt argument auto-completion, an in-memory transport for unit testing, and a command-line interface for testing and debugging.
It installs with npm and is released under the MIT license.
